‘Giant’

Giant trees of the Australian rainforest are so overwhelming in their statue and texture.  Their majesty is inspiring.  I just love the opportunity to use different weights and texture of fabric to reflect their character.  Machine applique and hand quilted using crotchet thread in various tones.

‘Celebration’

This quilt was designed as a tribute to the Australian Artist and printmaker John Hall Thorpe, who specialised in floral designs.  I have machine appliqued flowers onto chintz, used printmaking strips, and floral prints and weaves of various weights, textures and styles.  The construction is machine overlocked edges and strip piecing them in ‘quit as …

Conservation is a focal point of my artwork. ‘Where have all the Flowers Gone’ is one of my responses.

This Wagga quilt, 168cm x 126cm, is a response to the continuing destruction of our native flora.  The Australian ‘Wagga’ is, as is this quilt, made from sample blocks and left-overs from manufactured garments, in this artwork, using recycled wool material.  The ‘make do and mend’ philosophy underpins all my art work.  The layers are ‘tied’ …

‘Day and Night’, what a challenge! My entry into the Quilters’ Guild of NSW & Expertise Events.

This small quilt, 50cm x 50cm, was produced with the Challenge Material provided.  I chose to use the material as a whole piece.  I inserted panels and over lays of  ‘yummy’  material that I was loath to throw out but were too small to do much with.  So, this challenge was the ideal opportunity to …

I just found a scrap of a magazine with a picture of this wonderful parrot on it, saying it was endangered, but no other information was there!  So if anyone can tell me the name of the parrot, it would be appreciated.  I have used freehand machine embroidery and applique overlaying printed leaves and machine …

‘Memories’ selected finalist at The Campbelltown Arts Centre.

I am very excited to have been accepted into the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.  My ‘memories’ are built from the remnants of  my sewing for family, friends and many years of sewing costumes for ballroom dancing and brides.  The centre panel was found when I help clear out the home of a relative.  This quilt is hand stitched and …
