‘Giant’

Giant trees of the Australian rainforest are so overwhelming in their statue and texture. Their majesty is inspiring. I just love the opportunity to use different weights and textures of fabric to reflect their character. Machine applique and hand quilted using crochet thread in various tones. ‘Sydney Red Gum’

In the Bobbin Head National Park, north of Sydney Australia, there is a very old Sydney Red Gum growing on the edge of a sandstone cliff. The tree sheds its bark every year revealing wonderful shapes and colours. (1994)  162cm H x 135cm W.
